Sandblasting Services

Gotham Powder Coating offers a stand-alone, metal sandblasting service in the New York City region. On metal objects, we use an abrasive substance under high-pressure to remove rust, old paints and coatings, factory finishes, and impurities. Metal sandblasting is highly effective and the best way to get metal pieces back to their foundation before applying powder coating, paint, thermoplastic, etc.

Our sandblasting operation can handle objects that fit in our 25’ long x 12’ wide x 12’ high space. We can also handle heavy pieces. We have staging and lifting equipment that is capable of maneuvering your object for sandblasting.

We specialize in metal sandblasting which cleans down to the bare metal surface with minimal loss. We recommend cast iron. Softer metals, such as aluminum, may experience pitting from the abrasive substance.

Sandblasting and Powder Coating

We often begin a power coating project by sandblasting the object first to get down to the original surface. This allows us to apply powder coating to the object without blemishes or impurities from previous paints and coatings. And it helps the powder coating we apply have a beautiful, even finish. Sandblasting is also how we begin most of our thermoplastic coating services. When we are sandblasting a piece before our other services, there is no additional cost. We consider it part of the prep work. We also offer metalizing by thermal spraying after sandblasting is done, if that is your preference.
